From its founding in 2011, the Joy Mardini Design Gallery has advanced a clear vision: to develop modular, customizable design rooted in Lebanese craftsmanship. Through its curated projects, the gallery reflects the ongoing evolution of regional design sensibilities—where traditional materials meet progressive forms.
Each project becomes part of a dialogue between designer, craftsman, and place, reflecting Beirut’s dynamic creative ecosystem.

A Philosophy of Modular Thinking
Design at the gallery is never static. Many of its featured collections are intentionally modular—meaning they can be reconfigured, adapted, and expanded over time. This reflects a shift in global design where function and flexibility take precedence.
One example is the “6 Degrees of Separation” series, which highlights precision joinery, rich textures, and seamless transitions between segments. Modular design is also featured in pieces like the Highliner Bar Cart, where functionality is elevated through aesthetic elegance.
Beirut as a Catalyst
Beirut’s architecture—dense, layered, and storied—informs much of the gallery’s curatorial vision. From the industrial elegance of Karim Chaya to the minimalist explorations by Thomas Trad, each project draws from the city’s tension between memory and reinvention.

Local Craftsmanship, Global Dialogue
All gallery projects involve close collaboration with Lebanese artisans, who bring generational skill and knowledge to each piece. In a country known for artisanal heritage—like hand-carved woodwork and mosaic tile—this adds authenticity and depth to every project.
These pieces, though locally made, have global presence. The gallery’s participation in events such as Maison&Objet has positioned it as a touchpoint between Beirut and the international design community.
